Celebrating The Queen's Platinum Jubilee
Today, we celebrated The Queen's Platinum Jubilee across all of our settings with garden tea parties and lots of fun activities! The children came to nursery dressed in the Union Jack colours and as princes and princesses - the staff joined in too and we had some amazing outfits on display! At our Swineshead nursery, the children enjoyed lots of activities including making some glittery crowns, playing with coloured rice and finding jewels hidden in the sand to match the shapes on their crowns. In the afternoon, all of the children came outside for a big tea party in the garden! We enjoyed our sandwiches and drinks in the sunshine and had lots of brilliant conversation about our Queen and the Union Jack flag. At our Boston nursery, we held some Royal Races in the garden which included running, neighing like The Queen's horses and marching like beefeaters - lots of amazing effort from everyone! We then had a game of pin the tail on the corgi and the children were very happy to help each other with their blindfolds. In the afternoon, we had a fabulous tea party with traditional English sandwiches, crisps, sausage rolls and some lovely Swiss roll for dessert. We then raised our cups to The Queen and sang the national anthem together!

At our Alford nursery, the children decorated their own Union Jack biscuits and made some amazing glittery gem-studded crowns to wear for the tea party! We also had lots of dancing activities with the red, white and blue balloons and finished off the day with some books about The Queen and Buckingham Palace, followed by watching some videos about the royal family. At our Wragby nursery, we had an amazing celebratory tea party in the garden and gave a big 'cheers' to The Queen! Later on in the day, the children enjoyed exploring a brilliant children's story book which explains Queen Elizabeth's life story from childhood and all that she does as Queen. Lots of brilliant conversation and questions!
