Alford
Ormsby Lodge in the charming market town of Alford is located close to the church, Alford Windmill and local primary and secondary schools. The nursery setting is a stunning Victorian townhouse with three acres of gardens which provide magical play opportunities for children. Recent refurbishments to original buildings have added more space for play and learning in the Coach House and the Orangery. Although it’s a very impressive building, Ormsby Lodge retains a very homely feel; the rooms are large and airy, with many original features. The upper floor is reserved for babies under two, where there are full-sized cots allowing babies to sleep according to their own routines. Downstairs, the Toddler Room has space for 12 two to three-year-olds and a library and a role-play area. At around three years old, the children move into our beautiful Preschool Room. All children at Alford have endless opportunities for outdoor play and learning. Being outdoors offers opportunities for doing things in different ways and on different scales than when indoors, and we encourage the children to be physically active, exuberant and appreciative of the natural environment. Our gardens feature raised beds for growing vegetables, a sand and water play area, fruit trees, den-making facilities and a 'Willow Walk', and we really emphasise the importance of outdoor play and learning in our approach. We also offer Monti’s Children’s Club, which provides before and after school and holiday care for children aged four to eleven years; during the holidays, the club is open from 8am until 6pm in the Orangery, and each day is packed full of fun activities! |
All children have the opportunity to be part of the wider community by going on walks to the shops, the windmill and the library. We pride ourselves on planning fundraising activities throughout the year for local and national charities. We are great advocates for healthy eating at Mon Ami and have a dedicated cook who prepares freshly cooked and nutritious meals for the children, sourcing fresh, local or home-grown produce where possible. Our nursery has a five-star food hygiene rating from East Lindsey District Council. Sharon Baker supports Kristina as Deputy Manager and has been with us for many years. Sharon is a passionate and enthusiastic member of our team, with a real commitment to creating a positive atmosphere and providing the very best learning opportunities for the children in our care. Sharon is currently away on maternity leave, and we are very much looking forward to her return in November! |
